With the arrival of Fall in beautiful Santa Fe, we wanted to take a moment to share with everyone some of the exciting changes here at the Don Gaspar Inn. In late July Christopher Dempsey signed on as the new General Manager. With a background in luxury boutique hotel management, he is excited to bring his knowledge and experience to further elevate the service and amenities offered at the Don Gaspar Inn. Also joining us as an Innkeeper and marketing Guru is Paige. We have attempted to fire Ana several times but she just won't stop coming to work!!!
New amenities at the Inn include Dish Network satellite television, in-room safes, additonal bath amenites, complimentary bottled water, and umbrellas in every room. With many more upgrades and amenities planned, the Don Gaspar Inn will continue to evolve but never lose it's charm and intimate appeal.
Our trademark Gardens have been revived with careful attention and loving care and we are finishing out the season alive with brilliant colors and blooms! Our recent breakfast guests were even able to partake of dishes featuring peaches from our trees on property.
UPCOMING EVENTS IN NOVEMBER
“New Deal Art: CCC Furniture and Tinwork” Extended by popular demand through December 30th, 2012Location:
Museam of Spanish Colonial History
750 Camino Lejo On Museum Hill Santa Fe, NM 87505
505-982-2226 Event Type: Museum Exhibits
Extended by popular demand through December 30th, 2012 (Museum is Closed Mondays, from Labor Day to Memorial Day)
The “New Deal Art: CCC Furniture and Tinwork” exhibit has been designated a We the People project by the New Mexico Humanities Council and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
The Museum of Spanish Colonial Art and Bandelier National Monument present an exhibit showcasing the work of CCC-trained craftsmen, including furniture, furnishings, and decorative tin. From 1933-1940, CCC workers at Bandelier National Monument built and furnished 31 buildings. The furniture and tinwork created for these buildings illustrate an extraordinary combination of traditional and early 20th century design and demonstrate the expertise of the craftsmen. Some 24 pieces of furniture and 15 pieces of decorative tin are exhibited along with photos of CCC woodworkers, measured drawings of the pieces, and the names of many of those who were enrollees at the Bandelier camp.
In 1933, President Franklin D. Roosevelt proposed Emergency Conservation Work legislation to put the many unemployed of the country to work. Thousands of New Mexicans, destitute from the Depression and a historically cash-poor economy, were able to take advantage of this program.
PLEASE NOTE THE MUSEUM OF SPANISH COLONIAL ART IS CLOSED MONDAYS FROM LABOR DAY TO MEMORIAL DAY.
