Santa Fe Entertainment - Lensic Performing Arts Center

Santa Fe is a city rich in art and theater. The nonprofit Lensic Performing Arts Center is Santa Fe's premier venue for dance, music, theater, film, lectures and community events.

This year the Lensic celebrates its 10th year as a performing arts center in April 2011 with a full schedule of events! Next year also marks the 80th birthday of the Lensic Theater, built in 1931.

Some of the April programs include Arlo Guthrie performing Saturday, April 2.

Arlo Guthrie's career exploded in 1967 with the release of "Alice's Restaurant", whose title song premiered at the Newport Folk Festival helped foster a new commitment among the '60s generation to social consciousness and activism.

Sunday, April 3, you can experience modern native storytelling with Moccasins and Microphones: Modern Native Storytelling through Performance Poetry, a theater production by the renowned Santa Fe Indian School Spoken Word Team showcasing their original poetry, song, and dance in celebration of their debut CD.

Aspen Santa Fe Ballet presents the Nrityagram Dance Ensemble on Friday, April 8th. Back by popular demand, the internationally acclaimed Nrityagram Dance Ensemble from Southern India transports viewers to enchanted worlds of magic and spirituality with the sensuous flow of Odissi, the oldest of India’s classical dance forms. Ancient wisdom, sacred rituals, and divine transformation unveiled and interpreted in electrifying dance. Surpa Sen’s compelling choreography is the elusive union of meaning and abstraction, set to an original score performed live and a stunning ensemble of female dancers.
