July in Santa Fe is not only a time for art markets and festivals, but a great time to experience the beautiful gardens of The Don Gaspar Inn and beyond. On July 24 – 25th the annual Lavender and Herb Fair at the historic museum El Rancho de las Golondrinas celebrates lavender in bloom on their 200 acre farm and gardens. You'll learn about the herb's many uses, from culinary to medicinal, make your own lavender wand, and sample lavender-flavored foods. El Rancho de las Golondrinas is a living history museum located in a rural farming valley just south of Santa Fe. The museum, dedicated to the heritage and culture of Spanish Colonial New Mexico, features original colonial buildings that date back to the early 18th century. This historic rancho dates from the early 1700s and was an important paraje or stopping point along the famous Camino Real, the Royal Road from Mexico City to Santa Fe. The fair is open 10 AM to 4 PM. For more information reference golondrinas.org or call (505) 471-2261. The Don Gaspar Inn, The Casa Blanca Inn, and Blue Lake Ranch are members of Inns of the Southwest. Please visit our websites for monthly specials.
