The historic buildings surrounding The Don Gaspar Inn provide cultural experiences to educate, entertain, and inspire. The Institute of American Indian Arts, located one block fron the Santa Fe Plaza and the Palace of the Governors, is dedicated to increasing awareness and understanding of Native art. Its Pueblo Revival style building is an historical landmark that boasts architectural details in the spirit of the work it houses. The IAIA Museum collection consists of over 7,000 works of art and has been referred to as the “National Collection of Contemporary Native American Art.” The Institute of American Indian Arts is the only museum in the United States that is devoted solely to the exhibition of contemporary American Indian art forms. The Museum features a diverse range of exhibitions from leading figures in contemporary Native art, and works with emerging artists to continue the traditions of native art in modern times. Current exhibits include the Scout's Honour Exhibit, October 10, 2009 through January 31, 2010 and BADLAND: Rebecca Belmore, Lori Blondeau, Bonnie Devine, and Erica Lord, June 26, 2009 through January 31, 2010.
