Last weekend brought people from all over the world to Santa Fe for the 2009 Indian Market. Our veteran Don Gaspar Inn guests returned for another year of native art, events and buying sprees for personal enjoyment as well as gallery additions around the world. Downtown was bustling with travelers celebrating the shows, music on the plaza and gallery events.
Returning to Santa Fe year after year for the event, our guests gather in the evenings to enjoy the cool breezes in the courtyard and reminisce about the day! Some have been coming to the Don Gaspar Inn for 12 and 16 years!
Each morning the breakfast room was vibrant with coffee and chit chat about the goings on around the event, while guests enjoyed Northern New Mexico favorites such as Ana's traditional Green Chile stew made of fresh pork, green chili, and local flavor. In the afternoon they would return to refuel with an afternoon tea and a barefoot stroll around the gardens while nibbling on fresh baked treats like carrot cake and coconut almond chocolate chip cookies. With each year, our guests feel like family stopping by for a short visit, and we warmly welcome their returning smiles. Typically planning their Indian Market trips a year in advance, they choose their favorite suite or casita and book for 2010 at the end of their stay.
The weather has its seasonal flair and was mostly sunny with afternoon showers cooling things down and making dramatic sunsets among billowing clouds flush with hues of pink and purple. Saturday night guests enjoyed an outdoor dinner on the patio beneath the sparkling lights of our apple tree and a clear sky full of stars. Thanks to everyone for making the 2009 Indian Market another successful weekend at the Don Gaspar Inn and we look forward to seeing you again next year! Adios!
